Fragospito White
DRY WHITE WINE – PGI CRETE
VARIETY: 50% Moschato Spinas, 50% Malvazia. Both grapes are very aromatic indigenous grape varieties of Crete.
GRAPE ORIGIN: Both Moschato Spinas and Malvazia grapes come from our single vineyard, named Fragospito, at an altitude of 400 meters with clay-loamy soil. The vineyard is located at Vorias (meaning north wind) area, Monofatsi, Heraklio, Crete. The yield is about 7000kg/ha.
VINIFICATION: Moschato grapes were harvested at night of 5th of August and Malvazia grapes at night of 10th of August so they had the natural temperature of the night. Cold maceration took place for 12 hours and yeasts were added to initiate fermentation at low temperatures. The wine was cold stabilized and filtered before bottling.
